That reminds me when the game was first released.

I can't believe that they're so expensive again. When the price first went down, I was hoping that it would stay down.

The economy is in ruins now with the prices coming back up.

its funny to me because sup vigors are not even worth it. its only a 9 hp difference between major and sup. that is not going to be enough to save you from anything. go buy a major and stop thinking that because its a few more hp its better because it really isn't

sup absorption are worth every penny but you really won't notice too much of a difference between the major and sup. i've found 2 so far so i haven't had a problem with the prices but i do empithize with other players that do have to buy them.

one day people will learn that the +5 armor mod is much better than a 30 hp upgrade too so i'd start stocking up.

I'm pretty sure they changed the trader code, which changed the way the prices behave. Apart from monk superiors, I very much doubt that any change in player behaviour has caused the recent price increases.

However, the situation that occured when the rune traders were first introduced was clearly broken - the majority of runes were always at the minimum price. There's no point having a trader with a floating price if they're always going to lying at the bottom extreme. Sure, it was great to be able to roll a new char and fully outfit it with minor runes for 5x 120g, but considering the drop rate of runes, I dont really think it was intended to be like that. (otherwise, why not just add them to merchants?)

That is simply untrue, superior vigors stayed at 100k at the trader for at least a week when the trader was intruduced and that shows your entire argument about the trader being broken on release is false.

Reason rune prices droped to 120 gp mark was that the trader was flooded with runes, superior runes (except vigor and absortion) were never very popular with the players (due to the HP loss) and getting a ninor rune was easy since they even up the rune drop rate.

Think about it this way. They designed a system that is supposed to fluctuate in price to reflect player trading. It's not an auction system, where players set their price levels, it's a system where every time a player buys something, the price goes up at some Rate, and when a player sells something the price goes down at some other Rate.

On release, the normal amount of buying and selling done by players was not enough to budge the price from minimum, except for the super popular runes.

Since they seem to have changed it so that prices are more inclined to move upwards now, the original situation was clearly unintended.

You'll notice that minor runes have gone up in price as well. A minor of Ele Fire magic used to hover at around the 500g mark, now its suddenly 3 plat. I doubt that there's been a sudden increase in the popularity of minor fire runes this week.

the 105 health build just makes Monk Superior (and now Major) prices very noticeable, but biggest clue are how the prices of the modestly in-demand runes have changed.

Players use a auction system, prices were always high because players started bids high and continued to drive higer.

Also what you just said is not supply and demand.

Supply and demand also depend on it each other, if a trader is shifting inventory at the same rate he is gaining the price sould not change, if the trader is selling less inventory that he is gaining the price sould go down.

Take black dye, its very expensive but few are buying and selling to the trader so its price sould be stable since suppy/demand is the same but price is raising?

Either the exceptional rich players are using a EXPLOIT to gain unfair advantage over the other players with price manipulation (that in real live gets you send to jail) or the trader is simply not using a inventory relation and connecting buy/sell, its acting as buying and selling are seperate inventories.

Quote:

That because the inventory relation shown a large surplus, the trader simply had far too many runes and wanted to get rid of then.

Thats why buying price was at the lowest (since he did not wanted) and his selling price was at the lowest (since he wanted to get rid of then to free inventory space)

That is supply and demand, there is always a inventory relation.

As I said ... either the traders are bugged or rich players all decided to drive prices up by hoarding.

hmm the gw rune trading economy seems to be like the stock market i remember when i made a pvp guy and i was going to buy some runes and saw sup mes(and earth/water ele) runes for about 200g if i had more money (like i have about 10k now) i would have used it all on them because i thought there was no way a superior would stay that low i even said to my guild "this is a travesty!" when i saw it so the second those runes go down im investing everything into runes, sure it may be a bit o a gamble but hey, its just a game(though i may get mad for losing a few hours o my day for farming/selling)
so i hope that in time the prices will go back down *shakefist* they better
PS: i hope this doesnt make me sound like one of those rich hoarders

This is the wrong attitude to take. People need to start looking past themselves and seeing what the price change is causing to the economy as a whole. Saying the price change is good because you made a bunch of money is the wrong way to look at the situation.

But can you blame him? Everyone a couple weeks back we're always complaining "OMG RUNES AREN'T WORTH CRAP ANYMORE", but now that the prices have skyrocketed, people are making some quick coin. I can't say i'm completely happy about it because i don't have the funding to buy some of those runes. But then again, i might just be on a mission and get a nice rune drop and actually be able to sell it for more than 25 gold. Puts quite a smile on some peoples faces.

Unfortunately, you can only sell most minor runes to the rune trader for 25 gold, and selling to other players is a waste of time in most circumstances.

But why the trader buy runes at extreme low prices?
He is selling a rune for 5K and buy it for 200g?
It is simly not FAIR!

99k for vigor and 90k for absorb WOW

Whos hoarding the runes?

I saw this as a common sight not long after the traders were introduced.
Now back up to 100k. Damn I sold mine for a measly 35k the other week....if I had only waited
